Sea Cliff Railings
cast bronze
3’h x 6’d x 71 linear feet
2003, San Francisco, CA
Stoller was asked to create railings worthy of the spectacular views overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. These railings grace two newly built rooftop terraces and stairway of this 1920’s era ocean front property. Every railing element is a carved & cast original form. There are 190 pickets through which a bronze vine-like shape winds. A broad 6” cap-rail affords leaning on during ocean gazing and pondering the vista. Conceived and built in just 15 weeks in conjunction with the prestigious San Francisco Decorator Showcase, the railings are a permanent part of the property. The visual movement of the piece is inspired by the rhythm and flow of the ocean and underwater sea-grass.
