Metamorphosis references life forms: plant life, bone structure, and particularly the monarch butterfly. The “unfurling” or progressive opening of the sculptures’ helical shape expresses the butterfly metaphor. The sculptures’ pattern and form are abstract geometry, resonant with organic shapes found in nature at various scales.
