Sea Cliff Railings
cast bronze
3′h x 6″d x 71 linear feet
2003, San Francisco, California
Stoller was asked to create railings worthy of the spectacular views overlooking the Golden Gate Bridge. The visual movement of the piece is inspired by the rhythm and flow of the ocean and underwater sea-grass. These railings grace two newly built rooftop terraces and the stairway of this 70-year-old oceanfront property. Each part is a carved and cast original form. The upright portion includes 190 pickets through which a bronze, vine-like shape winds. This is finished by a broad 6″ cap-rail designed as a place to lean while pondering the vista. Conceived and built in just 15 weeks in conjunction with Frank Bergamachi Architects and the prestigious San Francisco Decorator Showcase, the railings are a permanent part of the property.
